Be Iron Fit - The IronMoms' Training Plan?

When we were at breakfast the other morning we started talking about training plans.  Sounds like a few people were going to use the plans in "Be Iron Fit" by Don Fink.  Annette and I ordered our copies right after we left breakfast.  I looked at the reviews and they are great.  There are 3 plans in the book.  I think the plans will cover all of our needs.  There is a Competive Plan for our little Kristin (young and fast!), an Intermediate plan, and a Just Finish plan.  The last two plans probably cover the rest of us!  My book came today and I am so excited to dive into it.

The last time a did Ironman I used a plan that was much too aggressive for my lifestyle.  I never met the goals of the day and it was very discouraging.  After glancing at these plans I think they are doable!  30 weeks of training.  I like it!

Is everyone going to use the Be Iron Fit plans?  If so, what version?  If not, what plan?

  1. My copy hasn't arrived yet but I'm thinking the "just finish" version. : ) Good to hear it's a 30 week plan!

  2. I'm thinking intermediate, I would probably be overestimating my abilities (but not enthusiasm!) with the competitive. What are you all doing before the 30 weeks?

  3. My plan for the pre-30 weeks is to keep preparing for the "real" training. : )

I'd still like to lose a considerable amount of weight before the plan kicks in.

  4. I put it on my Amazon "wishlist" so Ryan can put it in my stocking. ;)

  5. So far the book has been an easy interesting read. It is all about efficient training for busy lifestyles. I needed this last time! As I look at the training plans they all look doable! This is going to be such a different experience for me.

  6. The first time I read through it I was thinking the intermediate which I think will still work. Now that it's all going to be real I need to reread the book and make sure that'll work.

  8. Hello Scott! (I don't think you can call yourself Fat Boy after losing so much weight!) Good to see you over here. The book is pretty good. It stresses TIME with Heart rate zone training. The author makes training looks very doable. Last time I tried doing BT's plan and was ALWAYS behind. I think it took a toll on me. After reading more of it i think I'm going to shoot for intermediate plan.
